Eros, Thanatos, and Captain Jack Harkness

Freud theorized that humanity is conflicted by two distinct drives: Eros, the inclination to seek love, and Thanatos, the inclination to seek death. While the rest of humanity may find these drives incompatible, there is one 51st century Time Agent that lives in perfect harmony with both Love and Death: Captain Jack Harkness. This panel will discuss how Jack Harkness’ immortality allows him to defy this elemental statute of Freudian psychology.
